Cancellation Policy
The National Park Service cancels interpretive tours in limited circumstances where conducting the tour may endanger its participants. Cancellation rationales include - but are not limited to - wildfire, severe lighting, severe hail, and other natural dangers. All cancellations are at the discretion of the National Park Service. 

Refund Policy
 No refunds will be provided except if the National Park Service cancels the tour. No refund will be provided under any other circumstance including - but not limited to - physical inability, travel itinerary alterations, or tardiness. In the case of a cancelled tour, refunds will be provided by presenting your receipt at the Far View Visitors Center in Mesa Verde, or through the mail. Mail-in refund requests must include a copy of your receipt and must be sent to: Mesa Verde Museum Association, ATTN: Centennial Backcountry Tour Refund, PO Box 38, Mesa Verde National Park, CO, 81330-0038 

Mail-in refunds will be processed and you should receive your refund check within 3-5 weeks. 

Hikes:

I understand and have agreed:

  1. That this registration for a Centennial Backcountry Tour at Mesa Verde National Park is non-refundable unless the National Park Service cancels the tour;
  2. That hiking can be a dangerous activity and should not be attempted by persons with cardiac and/or respiratory problems;
  3. That participation in backcountry hiking has danger and risk, which include among other things: hazards of travel in high elevation, steep terrain, weather, forces of nature, slips and falls, rockfall, exposure to insect, and snake bites;
  4. That Mesa Verde National Park’s backcountry trails and sites are fragile, and that for my safety and the safety of others, I agree to follow all verbal and written instructions given by the National Park Service Ranger leading this tour;
  5. That I will carry and drink water and wear sturdy boots or shoes on this tour;
  6. That I have read the information found at www.mesaverde2006.org concerning tour dates, location, trail distance and difficulty, restrictions, and rates and that I believe I am able to perform all of the activities required of a participant in this tour;
  7. That I and any persons for whom I have registered will sign the liability release waiver at the beginning of the tour.
Horseback Rides:

I understand and have agreed:

  1. That this registration for a Centennial Backcountry Tour at Mesa Verde National Park is non-refundable unless the National Park Service cancels the tour;
  2. That horseback riding can be a dangerous activity and should not be attempted by persons with cardiac and/or respiratory problems;
  3. That participation in horseback riding entails known and unanticipated risks which could result in physical or emotional injury, paralysis, death, or damage to myself, to property, or to third parties;
  4. That participation in horseback riding includes risks that simply cannot be eliminated without jeopardizing the essential qualities of the activity;
  5. That participation in backcountry activities involve dangers and risks, which include among other things: hazards of travel in high altitude, steep terrain, weather, forces of nature, slips and falls, rockfall, exposure to insect, and snake bites;
  6. That Mesa Verde National Park’s backcountry trails and sites are fragile, and that for my safety and the safety of others, I agree to follow all verbal and written instructions given by the National Park Service Ranger leading this tour;
  7. That I will carry and drink water and wear sturdy boots or shoes with a heel and lug soles (no cowboy boots or sneakers) on this tour;
  8. That I have read the information found at www.mesaverde2006.org concerning tour dates, location, trail distance and difficulty, restrictions, and rates and that I believe I am able to perform all of the activities required of a participant in this tour.
  9. That I and any persons for whom I have registered will sign the liability release waiver at the beginning of the tour.
